Working with clay was always an interest of mine, which I happily got to pursue in earnest after retiring. In 2011 I set up a home studio in Durham, North Carolina and another on Sandy Point in Shelburne, Nova Scotia, where we spend summers, and which is the inspiration for the name Sandy Point Pottery. I strive to make forms that are elegant and functional: teapots with spouts that pour well, casseroles with securely fitting lids, and mugs with handles that both fit the form and hand. All pots are wheel thrown and are sometimes accented with tape and wax relief designed to complement the form, the glaze and the clay body.
