Pottery Tour #6

This pottery is created to capture a memory or a daydream of an exotic place, using bold folk imagery and geometric patterns.  Images from travel photographs become stencils and silkscreen patterns which are then applied using slip and underglaze to wheel thrown and handbuilt pots.  The images transfer imperfectly to the surface of the pot, hinting of worn plaster walls and peeling paint.  The pots are low-fire earthenware which uses less energy to fire and produces bright colors in clay and glazes.  Each pot is sturdy and comfortable, designed for the daily grind but reminiscent of a faraway place.
